Sporty Hybrid Concept Car Shows Toyota's View for the Future
At the Detroit Auto Show this year, Toyota surprised the market with an innovative concept car that features not only a sporty look, but the benefit of a hybrid engine. The FT-HS Hybrid Sports Concept is everything that a classic sport car lover wants in power and style, with a sleek, aerodynamic design that will slice its way down the road. The engine is a V-6, 3.5 liter workhorse that won't use a ton of gas. The electric motor inside features a 650 V that works in tandem with the gas engine to produce a fuel efficient, powerful vehicle.

Toyota's Work in Progress
You can’t buy this vehicle from any Toyota showroom, but, in time, this concept car can develop into a production model vehicle available at Toyota dealerships. What the FT-HS does give us though, is a part of Toyota’s view for the future. Kevin Hunter, the vice president of Calty Design Research, says the FT-HS represents a sporty, exciting vehicle, which has been absent from the Toyota lineup since the exit of the Supra.

Sporty and Sensible?
The vehicle is forward thinking too. Traditionally, one of the downsides with sporty vehicles has been their fuel economy. By adding in a hybrid engine, Toyota is looking to provide a vehicle that is fun to drive, without being impractical. With MPG restrictions on the horizon, it is important to innovate, instead of just continuing business as usual.
