Giving to our Local Food Bank

Toyota Greensburg Food Bank Donation

On November 7, 2018, Members of the Toyota of Greensburg Family made a donation of $8,450 to the local Westmoreland County Food Bank | Toyota Greensburg Food Bank Donation

The Westmoreland County Food Bank is a local organization that provides food to the hungry people of the Westmoreland community. The not-for-profit, private charity achieves this through creating a network of food assistance programs in Westmoreland county and the surrounding areas. Working out of a 43,000 square foot facility, the charity is able to provide many programs to assist community members who are food insecure.

In order to acquire and distribute food and household necessities, the Westmoreland County Food Bank pairs with a network of member agencies, such as soup kitchens, on-site feeding programs, faith-based organizations, and volunteer led groups. To dispense their supplies to those in need, the Westmoreland County Food Bank delivers food and household necessities to over 43 food pantries throughout the county, where those in need can be helped directly.

With the help of the Westmoreland community, the multi-service food and nutrition service agency has successfully helped over 7,000 disadvantaged families each and every month. Local members of the community can contribute to the charity through donating money, volunteering, purchasing through virtual drives, making planned gifts, donating food, or giving through the workplace. Of each dollar donated to WCFB, $.95 goes to food and food programs.

Black Friday is associated with great deals, but also with stress, pressure and the hustle and bustle of large hoards of people. Do you want to find an awesome deal on your next car, but also avoid the craziness of Black Friday? A car dealership is the place for you on the day after Thanksgiving.

Steve Lang of Thrillist said that Black Friday is a great day to buy a car. We think he’s right.

Here are a couple reasons to shop on Black Friday:

1. Most people don’t shop for cars on Black Friday.

If you’re worried about getting out-run by the crowds of Black Friday, let this put your mind at ease. The majority of Black Friday shoppers flock to tech deals and clothing stores in order to get some easy Christmas gifts at a lower price. This can make it incredibly easy to find a great deal on a car without the stress of big crowds. Plus, a car is one of the best gifts you can give this holiday season.

2. Current-year models are cheaper this time of the year.

As the 2019 models race into dealerships, the price of the up-to-date and new 2018 models go down significantly. S0, special Black Friday prices can only make this better.

3. The longer you wait, the less chance you have of finding that perfect vehicle.

Don’t miss out on your dream car, especially when it’s at a great price. If you wait in hopes for the price to go down, another driver could snatch up the car you want. A cheaper car that isn’t the right fit for you is a harsh trade-off.

4. Interest rates are on the rise.

Because of another interest rate hike on the horizon, moving faster on the purchase of a vehicle could save you a lot of money.

So, avoid the crazy crowds this Black Friday while still taking advantage of the deals – there’s little that’s more satisfying than finding a great price. Come by Toyota of Greensburg this Black Friday and take a look at our all-new 2019 models, including the Toyota Camry, Corolla, Rav4, and more. We look forward to seeing you!

With the fall season comes changing leaves, holidays, and sweater weather. It also means that some vehicle maintenance checks are in order so you can stay safe on the roads. S0, follow these autumn vehicle maintenance tips and enjoy this season to the full.

1. Check your tire pressure.

With every 10 degree drop, your tire pressure decreases by 1 to 2 pounds. Ensure that your tires are in good shape by checking the pressure and inflating them if needed.

2. Consider switching to winter tires.

An all-season’s tire tread is less likely to be able to grip the road once the temperature drops below 45 degrees. So, especially if snow and ice are an issue, switching to winter tires might be your best and safest option.

3. Make sure your battery is in good shape.

Cold weather is tough on batteries. Once the temperature reaches 32 degrees, a car battery decreases by 35 percent. In order to avoid a sticky situation out in the cold, double check that your battery is good to go for the colder temperatures.

4. Check your wiper blades, heater and defrosters.

These three parts of your car are some of the most important in cold weather, but you don’t need us to tell you that. Make sure that they’re all working as they should be. Specifically, check the fluid level in the windshield washer reservoir. It may not be the first thing that comes to mind, but you never know when you’ll need to clean some mud off your windshield from the autumn rain.

5. Get your brakes checked.

Last but never least, make sure your breaks are working at their best. Fall and winter mean rain, snow, wet leaves and mud on the roads, so your brakes are of the utmost importance.

Are you preparing for a busy back-to-school season filled with busy mornings and after-school activities?  Or perhaps you are preparing to send your child off to college. No matter what, back-to-school is busy for everyone and now is the perfect time to make sure your car is at the top of its class. Be prepared and get ready for this busy time by following these simple guidelines!

1. Keep Up with Basic Maintenance: Make sure to complete simple maintenance tasks like oil changes and tire rotations. Check all the fluid levels and top them off if necessary including brake fluid, transmission fluid and coolant. If you can’t remember the last time you changed your wiper blades, you might want to invest in some now before rain’s fall takes its toll. While these are simple, minimal maintenance items, they will extend the life of your vehicle and keep it functioning properly.

2. Check the Owner’s Manual: Familiarize yourself with the recommended maintenance schedule. If it is time for a 60,000 mile service, take the time to have the vehicle serviced. Most major repairs can be prevented by following manufacturer recommendations. These services are inexpensive in the long run and help ensure you and your family are safe on the road.

3. Check Your Dash Board: Have you grown accustomed to a warning light? Don’t ignore it! Have it checked out sooner rather than later. Again, catching a problem early will prevent costly repairs in the future.

4. Be Prepared: Make sure the vehicle has basic safety equipment including jumper cables, a pair of gloves, flashlight with extra batteries, washer fluid and other items. A pre-packaged auto safety kit is also a great choice. They are compact and provide everything you need. Some other good ideas include granola bars, compact winter shovels, ice scrapers, blankets and bottled water.

5. Stay Organized: The cars of busy college students and parents with children in school often resemble cargo trucks after the start of school. Books, sports equipment, gym shoes, etc. often find a permanent home in vehicles. So stay organized! There are a number of bags and organizers which can help maximize the space in your trunk. Carve out some space just for your safety equipment so you will always be prepared.

6. Know Your Car: Pay attention to your car and familiarize your child with the car as well. Make sure they know where they can find the safety equipment, spare tire and owner’s manual. Familiarize yourselves with the particular noises of your car so you are more aware of anything unfamiliar and different.
