Toyota of Greensburg

Mr. Riz Rizvi, General Manager of Toyota of Greensburg awarded $7,000 check to the nonprofit CANDLE, Inc. that oversees the Reality Tour parent/child drug prevention program. The funds will allow all Hempfield School District middle school families to attend the program at no cost and be eligible for $500 in gift card drawings.  In addition CANDLE will award $1500 of the funds received to the Hempfield middle school with the best Reality Tour attendance at the end of the school year.

Mr. Riz Rizvi General Manager of Toyota of Greensburg moved to the area a year ago from Connecticut.  He was present at Hempfield’s Harrold Middle School Orientation in May and heard Principal Jason Lochner’s appeal to parents to take their child to Reality Tour. In 2017 Westmoreland County experienced a record 193 overdose deaths. Mr. Rizvi explains his reason for stepping forward to support prevention for families in a simple statement, “It’s  the right thing to do.”

Hempfield School District has partnered with Reality Tour since 2010 with over 3,000 parents and students attending the evening program held at the courthouse monthly. The program is only possible because of dedicated volunteers – some have served for over a decade. Organizations in Mt. Pleasant, Belle Vernon, Murrysville, Norwin & Latrobe also replicate Reality Tour for a record total of six locations for the program in Westmoreland County. Reality Tour started in Butler County in 2003 and it is the only program if its kind that educates parent and child together before there is a problem with drugs or alcohol. There are now 18 sites in Pennsylvania and the researched-based program is also in 5 other states and Canada. The program is suitable for parents to attend with their child age 10-18. Registration is online at www.RealityTour.org.

And equipped with a hands-free, foot-activated power liftgate loading cargo when your hands are full has never been easier. So load up your friends, their friends, and the family dog and get to adventuring.

Trim Levels (Exterior)

Between regular engines and hybrid options, the 2018 RAV4 has 10 trim options. Regular engines come in the LE, XLE, Adventure, SE, Limited, and Platinum. Your hybrid choices are LE, XLE, SE, and Limited. Even if you do not have a big budget, the RAV4 offers features like Entune Audio and Toyota Safety Sense P. Plus the Adventure trim has a unique appearance that includes black mudguards, black wheels, and all-weather mats. Then there’s the premium trims that come with the Bird’s Eye View Camera, a hands-free lift-gate, and Toyota’s Smart Key System.

Engine (Power)

The gasoline engine in the 2018 Toyota RAV4 is a 2.5-liter I-4 that can manage 176 horsepower and 172 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed automatic transmission comes standard and any trim can come with front or all-wheel drive. Hybrid models have an engine with the same displacement, and combined with the electric motor, they offer 194 net horsepower. Their transmission is a CVT and AWD comes standard. Ratings have not been released on the non-hybrid models, but the RAV4 Hybrid gets 34 miles per gallon in the city and 30 on the highway.

Performance

The 2018 RAV4 has an available towing package that comes standard on the Adventure, and with it, the crossover can pull up to 3,500 pounds. With or without a trailer, the RAV4 comes with smooth handling. And a comfortable suspension that does not allow much body roll, making it easy to drive despite its size. Then there is the RAV4’s high ground clearance and available AWD. Two reasons that the crossover does well off the pavement. Toyota’s best off-roader is the 4Runner, but the RAV4 can get you to a remote campsite safely.

Interior

The back of the 2018 Toyota RAV4 has 38.4 cubic feet to offer for luggage, groceries, and other cargo, and you can get up to 73.4 cubic feet once you fold the split rear seats. The vehicle’s feature list is long no matter which trim you get. But with the right trim you can get things like a premium audio system. Which includes 11 JBL GreenEdge speakers, a 7-inch touchscreen with Entune Audio. And even SofTex leatherette eight-way adjustable driver’s seat. Plus dual-zone automatic climate control complete with a cabin air filter.

Safety Features

The 2018 RAV4 covers the basics of safety with Toyota’s Star Safety System, eight air bags, and two years of complimentary maintenance. All that is on top of Toyota Safety Sense P, a package that adds driver assistance features to every model. These include the Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Automatic High Beams, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control. And Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection. The last feature looks for obstacles in the road. Plus it can warn the driver and start braking if it detects something ahead.

2016 Toyota Highlanders Manassas

If you’re looking for an SUV, there are several lines to choose from in the Greensburg, PA area. Two strong contenders are the 2018 Toyota Sequoia and Toyota Highlander. Knowing which one is right for you can be a difficult choice. Here are some things to consider when looking at these two SUVs.

Toyota SUV Performance

The Toyota Sequoia is a bigger SUV than the Toyota Highlander. As such, they have very different engines. The Sequoia’s 381 horsepower V-8 can tow up to 7,400 pounds. The smaller Highlander has a 185 horsepower 4-cylinder to tow up to 5,000 pounds. This alone might give Greensburg SUV buyers enough to go on, if their goal is an SUV with lots of power. However, with the engine size difference comes different fuel efficiency. The Sequoia gets 13 mpg city/17 mpg highway*, while the Highlander gets 20 mpg city/25 mpg highway*.

Toyota SUV Cargo Space

2016 Toyota Sequoia Cargo Space Manassas

Because the Sequoia is bigger, it has more cargo space than the Highlander. While the Highlander still has a very large space for cargo at 83.7 cubic feet behind the front row, the Sequoia has an enormous advantage with 120.1 cubic feet. This goes down a bit behind the second row to 66.6 with the Sequoia versus the Highlander’s 42.3 cubic feet. The third row, where the cargo space is mostly used on a day-to-day basis, is even closer. The Sequoia’s 18.9 cubic feet is still bigger than the Highlander’s 13.8 cubic feet, but there are days when that won’t even matter.

Each SUV seats eight, but there is more comfort in the Sequoia, again due to size.

The 2018 Sequoia and the 2018 Highlander have significant differences in some areas. Whether you are more likely to need or want the mass of the Sequoia or are fine with the more diminutive Highlander and its better fuel efficiency may come into play with your decision.

If you are interested in finding out more about the 2018 Toyota Sequoia or the 2018 Toyota Highlander and are in the Greensburg, PA area, visit Toyota of Greensburg to set up a test drive today.

*Based on EPA mileage ratings. Use for comparison purposes only. Your mileage will vary depending on how you drive and maintain your vehicle, driving conditions and other factors.

Summer’s heat, dust, and stop-and-go traffic, will take their toll on your vehicle. Add the effects of last winter, and you could be poised for a breakdown. You can lessen the odds of mechanical failure through periodic maintenance… Your vehicle should last longer and command a higher resale price, too! Some of the following tips are easy to do; others require a skilled auto technician like the ones found at Toyota of Greensburg.

  1. Air Conditioning

A marginally operating system will fail in hot weather. Have the system examined by a qualified technician. Newer models have cabin air filters that clean the air entering the heating and air conditioning system. Check your owner’s manual for location and replacement interval.

  1. Cooling System

The greatest cause of summer breakdowns is overheating. The cooling system should be completely flushed and refilled about every 24 months. The level, condition, and concentration of the coolant should be checked periodically. (A 50/50 mix of antifreeze and water is usually recommended.) DIYers, never remove the radiator cap until the engine has thoroughly cooled! The tightness and condition of drive belts, clamps, and hoses should be checked by a pro.

  1. Oil & Engine Performance

Change your oil and oil filter as specified in your manual more often (every 3,000 miles) if you make frequent short jaunts, extended trips with lots of luggage, or tow a trailer.Replace other filters (air, fuel, PCV, etc.) as recommended more often in dusty conditions. Get engine driveability problems (hard starts, rough idling, stalling, diminished power, etc.) corrected at a good shop.

  1. Tires & Brakes

Have your tires rotated about every 5,000 miles. Check tire pressures once a month; check them while they’re cold before driving for any distance. Don’t forget to check your spare as well and be sure the jack is in good condition. Examine tires for tread life, uneven wearing, and cupping; check the sidewalls for cuts and nicks. An alignment is warranted if there’s uneven tread wear or if your vehicle pulls to one side.Brakes should be inspected as recommended in your manual, or sooner if you notice pulsations, grabbing, noises, or longer stopping distance. Minor brake problems should be corrected promptly.

  1. Battery

Batteries can fail any time of year. The only accurate way to detect a weak battery is with professional equipment. Routine care: Scrape away corrosion from posts and cable connections; clean all surfaces; re-tighten all connections. If battery caps are removable, check the fluid level monthly. Avoid contact with corrosive deposits and battery acid. Wear eye protection and rubber gloves.

The newly refreshed Toyota RAV4 design for the 2019 year is robust and provides an unparalleled driving experience. The 2.5-Liter Inline-4 and Toyota Hybrid System Powertrain systems available in the RAV4’s offer a more powerful drive. On Sunday, March 18th Team USA and Team Toyota’s Rico Roman brought home the gold medal during the closing day of Paralympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018. It will be the second gold medal that Roman has received during his time with the USA sled hockey team. Roman is a strong forward player for the team, but he wasn’t always making moves out on the ice. Roman is actually a retired United States Army Staff Sergeant and Purple Heart recipient. Having to have his left leg amputated above the knee when he was badly wounded by an IED during his third tour in Iraq in 2007. But Roman did not let his perseverance falter. He worked hard to train and compete in the Paralympic Games – all leading to his gold medal wins.

Roman speaks on his experience getting into the sled hockey game. Plus, why he felt like Team Toyota was a perfect fit for him thanks to the Toyota Tacoma. One big draw for him being the fact that not only can the Tacoma handle any kind of road conditions but also that it can handle a big bag of smelly hockey gear riding in the back as well. This makes the Tacoma a perfect fit for anyone who enjoys their freedom behind the wheel to get where they need to be with their gear safely stowed in the back. Roman exudes the Team Toyota spirit of “Let’s Go Places” because he isn’t afraid to go out of his comfort zone to achieve his goals.

Here at Toyota of Greensburg we’re proud to have Rico Roman representing the Toyota name and to have him on our team.
